The port of Chania or Souda port (In Greek: Λιμάνι των Χανίων) is located in the homonymous bay, about 6 km east. It has daily ferry connections with the main port of Greece Peireaus and in the summer months its an important port of call for many cruises.
At the north end of the port of Souda, lies the Greek and the NATO Naval Base and the U.S. Navy facilities. The Port of Souda is considered to be one of the safest natural harbors in the Mediterranean.
